Quality pepper spray will be available for sale at this event in limited quantities
You must bring a folding chair. This venue does not have any chairs available.

We will check attendees at the door. Not to worry, if you don’t get into this meeting, you will be able to catch another one in the near future.

What We’ll Cover:
Understanding Our Streets: Identifying Safe and Potentially Unsafe Areas:
- Resident Insights: Share and discuss areas within our neighborhood where you feel particularly safe or unsafe.
- Local Data (if available): Guest speakers may share general insights about areas that have historically experienced higher rates of certain types of incidents.
Practical Self-Defense Tools and Techniques (Awareness & Basic Skills):
- Focus on Awareness: The most crucial self-defense tool is your awareness of your surroundings. Learn how to be more observant and proactive.
- Verbal De-escalation: Strategies for diffusing potentially confrontational situations using your voice and body language.
- Basic Physical Techniques (Discussion Only – No Hands-on Training in this Meeting): A brief overview of simple, effective self-defense moves for escape or creating distance. Note: This meeting will not involve physical contact or hands-on training. We will provide resources for local self-defense classes if you wish to learn more.
- Safe Use of Personal Safety Devices: Discussion of legal and responsible use of personal safety devices and inert sprays (like marking and pepper sprays for identification). We will not be discussing or recommending illegal or dangerous weapons.
Staying Safe When Outside Your Home: Practical Strategies:
- Walking and Jogging Safety: Tips for being aware of your surroundings, choosing safe routes, and what to do if you feel unsafe.
- Safety While Running Errands: Staying vigilant in parking lots, stores, and other public spaces.
- Traveling in Groups: The power of numbers and how to look out for one another.
- Communicating Your Whereabouts: Letting trusted individuals know your plans and expected return time.
- Using Technology Safely: Apps and features that can enhance your safety and communication.
- Responding to Harassment and Unwanted Attention: Strategies for setting boundaries and seeking help.
Reporting Concerns and Suspicious Activity: Reinforcement of what to report, how to report it effectively to local authorities, and the importance of being a proactive community member.
Question and Answer Session: Your opportunity to ask questions and share your concerns.
